Mario: From Cuba to the US

After discovering his sexuality early in life in Cuba, Mario made his way to the US but wasn’t happy in Miami. “What is the furthest city from Miami to learn English?” Mario asked himself, needing to escape the stresses of his HIV diagnosis. And so, he ended up in the other corner of the U.S. “Everyone was so friendly,” he remembers of his arrival in Seattle. He tells how community organizations such as Entre Hermanos and Lifelong affected him: “I don’t feel fear. I don’t feel alone.”
