Eldonna: Motherhood and HIV
Washington native Eldonna Beal opens up about her history with HIV, from her divorce and subsequent diagnosis to giving birth to her daughter. She first learned about HIV in 1985, from a public health lecture in a class geared towards rebuilding a life after the end of a relationship. She never believed she would be HIV+, never expected to get pregnant, and thought she only had a few years to live. The difficult decisions, sacrifices, and challenges however, led to the greatest joy in her life.
